Elie Saab Couture

If I get married and if I have the money, I want a dress by Elie Saab, Monique L'Huillier... Elie Saab. Ok, it's clearly a hard decision for me but Elie Saab never disappoints, season after season, the Lebanese designer brings on the GLAM. His dresses are so romantic yet sexy at the same time. I just love him. I've picked a few from each segment of the collection but you can view the entire collection over at style.com

Queen Karla's Closet.

When I say Karla Deras is in a league of her own, I really mean All HAIL THE QUEEN. Simple but so so chic.

Jewel by Lisa

It's no secret that I love Jewel by Lisa Folawiyo. What I love most about Jewel By Lisa is that they go beyond just doing modern cuts they customize and they play with textures, creating this beautiful and vibrant pieces. The embellishments are always perfection and the lines are so clean. Spring 2011 was the first collection by JBL that really spoke to me and I wrote about it. The brand has been going from strength to strength ever since and I cannot wait to see more. To see the collections for yourself click here.  In this video, Lisa gives some insight into how JBL started, which is cool.

Rihanna X Rolling Stone

Terry Richardson is so talented. I never thought Rihanna could be made to look any more gorgeous than she already is.

Lady in Red

Last week, I asked my friend to take some pictures of me because lately all the pictures I have of me are taken by me, in my room, bed, basement, car....you get the picture. In one set of pictures, I opted for a red blouse which I belted with a skinny belt with red fitted trousers. I love the monochrome look and I wanted to do it with a bold color. I like the result, don't be surprised (and don't judge me) when you see me wearing this outfit many times after this.

*Both blouse and pants are from Forever 21

Oxblood Trend

So, I like the Oxblood trend. Maybe I'm not creative enough, but black and cream are the only colors I could think of to go with it. How would you wear Oxblood?

"Myspace"

I recently took a room in the basement of my parents' house and I'm turning it into my dream room. I went to Target and bought a board where I literally pin things, quotes, pictures, things I've written then print out just anything really. This is what it looked like a few weeks ago.

Jozi Maboneng

Elle South Africa teamed up with some of the designers and winners of the 2012 African Fashion Awards for a gorgeous and colorful editorial for the January issue. Model Sharleen Dziire shines in Gavin Rajah, Tiffany Amber and many other designers.

Random fact: Jozi Maboneng is a nickname for the city of Johannesburg. Maboneng is a sotho word meaning place of light. So the nickname basically means, "Johannesburg, the city of lights.

Job well done to Poppy Evans, once again!

My Top 5

I like to dream that a large amount of money will fall into my lap any day now. I keep a revolving top five list of things I would buy. If that day were today, these would be my fashion buys.

1.  The Bag- Every woman needs THE bag. I'm a large handbag type of girl, partially because I am a hoarder so I carry lots of things around with me but also because when I carry a small bag I feel like I am missing something. In 9th grade, I ditched the satchel for a tote bag and have not looked back ever since. A quality bag is definitely worth the splurge. Currently I am in love with 3.1 Phillip Lim 's Pashli bag. The trapeze shape trend is huge thanks  Celine, the holy grail. This bag has a little more edge than Celine and the price is less likely to crush your dreams. Available Here

2. The Shoe- I'm going to go ahead and say the patent leather Pigalle 120 is the shoe Christian Louboutin will go down in history for. Absolute beauty. I saw the Jimmy Choo Anouk and it gave me some subtle Pigalle vibes. I would go for it. Available here

3. Lace overlay - There is something so romantic and feminine about lace. If you want to instantly feel sexy, put on lace anything. West Africans have been doing lace forever as part of traditional wear (the more expensive kind). As someone who likes to play around with textures, I'm all for this trend.

4. Leather sleeves- I'm the girl who would wear a leather jacket ALL the time. No matter what I was wearing or where I was going, I would top it off with a leather jacket for some edge. I lost my last remaining leather jacket at a part a few months ago and sadly, I
was too poor to look for haven't found a new  leather jacket but I like this mashup concept. The contrast of a denim jacket, trench coat, sweater etc with the leather sleeves is dope. This one goes a step further with the leather collar, love it. AVAILABLE HERE

5. Virgos Lounge - I've been watching this brand for a few years and although I liked it, I never really felt I was missing out by not purchasing anything. Lately, I am obsessed with every single item. I visit the website multiple times a day. I'm really going through a sparkly, sequin, bejeweled phase so all their pieces speak to me. I want this entire outfit. The style of that skirt is everything. Definitely recommend you visit the site ---> www.virgoslounge.com

Worker Bee Fab

Happy Monday!

I know a lot of people are back to this office today so good luck! If the day is brutal and you really struggle to find any positive thoughts just be thankful that you have a job and remember that a paycheck will be coming your way sometime soon :)

I know the title suggests this is for work but clearly this is not for the average workplace or maybe if I owned the workplace I would do lace tights to work. Anyway, I am in love with this coat; a colorful coat is a fun way to brighten your day during these dreary winter months.

New Year, New Looks

The last time I posted here was in June of 2011. I didn't delete the entire blog because I knew I'd be back. I've been feeling very creative lately and I needed an outlet. I've been painting, vision boarding, rearranging my closet but still I feel all this creative energy -- so I am back :)

I spent a large part of the day reacquainting myself with my old love Polyvore. It was interesting to look at looks I created in the past, some I hated so much I had to delete but others led me to wonder if my style is not evolving or designers keep making the same things over and over again. haha. Enjoy!
